Four Years of Progress
How CAF is shaping the future of African football
Introduction
The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) will host its Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt on 12 March, 2025, bring to an end the previous four-year cycle and ushering in the next.
Led by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, It has been a period of sustained success, moving African football forward on and off the pitch, and setting numerous new records and milestones that has put CAF in a position to grow the game further in the decades to come.
While we celebrate the successes of the previous cycle, we ready ourselves for the future to build on the excellent platform that has been laid in the last four years.
Driving Progress
Investing in Women's Football 2021-2025

There's been a massive jump (in women’s coaching education). Before there were very few courses and not much opportunity. Now you see that there are courses for women all over the continent. You look at the African teams that qualified for the global youth competitions. Countries are not standing still anymore, and if you stand still, you do so at your own peril. I think it's (improved coaching) really improved women’s football on the continent.

The collective efforts and dedication to the game are truly paying off. I am confident that with these continued efforts, the future of women’s football in Africa will be successful.

Significant advances have been made. Some countries, such as Morocco, have made good progress in the development of women's football. You can see that Moroccan teams are often present during the World Cups, regardless of the category. There are always active initiatives. Within the Democratic Republic of Congo, our club has an academy, which has launched a project called ‘Sport and Studies’ to welcome young footballers. We currently have an Under-17 team that lives at the centre, and that forms the future of our team as well as that of the nation.
