The official draw of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 was officially conducted in Cairo on Wednesday, 09 October to officially map out the qualifiers of the tournament.

Set to be staged in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania between 01 – 28 February 2025, the eighth edition of the tournament will for the first time in CAF history be jointly hosted by three nations.

The official draw saw a total of 40 nations engaged to determine the two rounds of qualifiers which will be played on a home and away basis.

The first round of qualifiers will be played between 25 – 27 October and 01 – 03 November 2024, with 20 – 22 December and 27 – 29 December 2024 reserved for the second and final round of qualifiers.

The finals will be contested by nineteen (19) African nations made up of the three host nations (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania), three qualified nations from each of CAF’s six Zonal Unions, as well as a single slot reserved for the best performing nation from the CECAFA region.

Since its 2009 inception, the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship, which is uniquely reserved for players plying their trade in their local leagues remains a first in world football and signifies one of many exciting innovations led by CAF in further developing African football.

The qualified nations will contest the coveted TotalEnergies CAF CHAN trophy that will be accompanied by $2 Million in prize money as per CAF’s 60% increase in the tournament’s winning prize.
