A tough match awaits against a good opponent – Ahmed Al Shenawy

Pyramids FC goalkeeper, Ahmed El Shenawy has urged his teammates not to underestimate Mauritanian side, Nouadhibou when they face the tournament debutants on Saturday in an away Group A TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Match Day 2 encounter.

The Egyptians go into the clash at the back of a 1-0 narrow win over TP Mazembe at home and are looking at continuing with their winning form.

However, they come face-to-face with a heavily wounded Nouadhibou side who suffered a 3-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend.

Despite this being Nouadhibou’s first appearance in the group stages of the competition, Pyramids shot-stopper, Ahmed Al Shenawy says they will not be underestimating their opponents as this was the same team that knocked out quality opposition enroute to the group stages.

“Tomorrow's match will be difficult against a good opponent, who eliminated strong teams to qualify for the CAF Champions League. We will have to remain vigilant so as not to be surprised. We hope to have an excellent start to the match and get the result we want”, said El Shenawy.

Sharing his thoughts ahead of the clash a day before the match, coach Jaime Pachedo said the match will be difficult but believes his side would be able to adjust to the conditions.

“It is always better to play on a natural lawn but we will adapt to the synthetic surface of the stadium. The match will be difficult but my team is prepared to face the challenge and adapt when required”, said the coach.
