CAF Women's Champs Lge - WAFU B qualifiers: Delta Queens, Ampem Darkoa reach semi-finals

Nigeria's Delta Queens and Ghana's Ampem Darkoa Ladies sealed their places in the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers with wins on Friday.


Delta topped Group A after completing three straight victories, including a 2-0 shutout of Benin's Sam Nelly. Goals from Owoeye Temitope and Ifeoma Ifitezue saw Delta finish the group stage undefeated.


Temitope was named Player of the Match for tormenting Sam Nelly's defence as Delta showcased their credentials. They will now face Ivorian club Athletico FC in the semi-finals on Monday.


In Group B, a Mary Amponsah hat-trick powered Ghana's Ampem Darkoa to a 3-1 win over Atletico FC of Ivory Coast, securing first place.


Amponsah struck twice inside 15 minutes before completing her treble on 28 minutes. Despite a late consolation, Ampem remained in control to seal top spot.


For her match-winning display, Amponsah was awarded Woman of the Match as Ampem booked a last-four clash with Benin's Sam Nelly.


The two dominant performances mean both Delta Queens and Ampem Darkoa remain on course to qualify for November's inaugural CAF Women's Champions League finals in Cote d'Ivoire.


Ampem Darkoa's reward is a semi-final clash with Sam Nelly of Benin on Monday as they aim to qualify for November's CAF Women's Champions League Cote d'Ivoire.


Runners-up Athletico will face Nigerian champions Delta Queens in the other semi-final.


Victory for either side in the semi-finals will move them another step closer to representing the region at the continental showpiece later this year.
