TotalEnergies CAF U-20 AFCON: Kaseja urges his charges to fight for the honour of representing Tanzania

With just months to go before Cote d’Ivoire stages the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2025, head coach of the Tanzanian U-20 national team Juma Kaseja has called on his young charges to fight for the honour of representing Tanzania.
The 24th edition of the competition gets underway in Cote d’Ivoire between 26 April – 18 May 2025 where 13 nations, including Tanzania will contest the continental crown of being African champions.
The Cote d’Ivoire finals have an additional incentive, as they will serve as a qualifier to the FIFA U-20 World Cup set to take place in Chile later this year.
Kaseja, who recently hung up his gloves after a career as a goalkeeper for a number of Tanzanian clubs, including Young Africans and Simba SC has called upon his side to give it their all for their nation when the tournament gets underway in less than two-months’ time.
“The Draw was open, and it was a good draw and fair. We rely on great competition in our group, we have to prepare early because we need to do better in the tournament. Tanzania has a chance to do well, the competition in our League and having players who play outside of Tanzania makes us confident, together we must fight for the opportunity to play for our country”, he urged.
This year’s finals mark Tanzania’s second appearance following their 2021 debut in Mauritania where their campaign ended in the group stages.
